Treviso, March 13, 2025 – Treviso is preparing to take a further step forward in the mobility sector with a new parking management system. With a fleet aiming to reach 3,000 parking spaces, starting tomorrow, Thursday, March 13, new technologies will be adopted for payment infrastructures and parking detection sensors—an advancement that promises to significantly improve the efficiency of the parking system.
MAIN UPDATES FOR USERS
In the coming months, the residents and visitors of Treviso will benefit from a series of important updates. First of all, next-generation parking meters will be installed, equipped with color displays and capable of accepting payments not only with coins and smart cards but also via debit and credit cards of all types, thus ensuring greater convenience and security in transactions. At the same time, a progressive replacement of all parking sensors with new technology devices combining magnetic and radar detection is planned.
Data communication will take place via the LoRaWAN network, an innovative system that will ensure more efficient and stable information transmission. The new technological infrastructure will also offer the Municipality the opportunity to implement additional sensor systems in the future, such as devices for monitoring air quality or detecting traffic noise, thereby expanding the territory’s management capabilities. Finally, in the “Cittadella Istituzioni” area, the current parking regulation based on parking meters will be replaced by a barrier system with automated payment stations, a solution that will optimize access and payment management.
INTERVENTION DETAILS AND WORK SCHEDULE
The overall intervention involves the implementation of a smart parking system covering 2,850 parking spaces, with the possibility of extending the service to an additional 200 spaces during the contract term, for a total of 3,000. The new management will officially begin on March 13, 2025, with SIS handling operations and Smart Parking Systems – City Green Light Group responsible for the technology component.
During the first 60 days, a testing phase will take place on Via Toniolo, including the installation of one parking meter and 30 sensors to verify the new system’s functionality. At the Municipality’s discretion, the testing phase may be extended by an additional 15 days.
If the test results are positive, the installation throughout the entire municipal area is expected to be completed by September 2025.
A COMPLETE APP FOR PARKING MANAGEMENT
Never change a winning team. Despite the hardware innovations, Treviso’s citizens will continue to benefit from the mobile app designed for smart parking, an intuitive tool that simplifies every aspect of parking. The app allows users to book and pay for their parking conveniently from their smartphone, while also managing any specific authorizations issued by the Municipality. In addition, it guides drivers directly to available parking spaces, optimizing search times and reducing stress.
DEDICATED SERVICE DESK
Although the parking system is entirely digital, preparations are currently underway to establish a physical office where a dedicated service desk will be set up. This desk will provide users with information, support, and a channel for reporting issues, ensuring direct assistance for all citizens.
Andrea De Checchi, Councillor for Mobility of the Municipality of Treviso: “With this new initiative, Treviso is taking a significant step forward toward more efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced mobility, among the best in Italy. Through the introduction of the new smart parking system, we are offering citizens and visitors a more convenient, intuitive, and accessible service, thanks to cutting-edge technologies that simplify parking and urban space management.
This change optimizes the use of parking spaces, making them more accessible and smart—aligned with major European cities through intelligent, secure, and efficient infrastructure, fully integrated with the new app, which is already showing excellent results in terms of downloads and daily use.
