NEW LIGHT FOR “U CANNUNI”

Mazzarino (CL), January 7, 2025 – A new light shines on the “U Cannuni” Castle in Mazzarino, thanks to the completion of the artistic lighting and energy efficiency project that enhances one of the territory’s most significant monuments, making it even more captivating, especially during evening hours.
The project, carried out by the ESCo City Green Light, involved replacing the old non-functioning system with 16 projectors featuring a color temperature of 3,000K. These were selected to highlight the castle’s architectural lines while respecting the environment, thanks to reduced energy consumption and carefully oriented lighting fixtures designed to minimize light pollution.

A RESTORATION AND ENHANCEMENT PROJECT
The “U Cannuni” Castel, with its cylindrical tower resembling a cannon, is a symbol of Mazzarino and an essential reference point for the region’s history and culture. Thanks to the new lighting, the castel reveals its fully beauty, beams of light rest on the ancient walls, creating a play of light and Shadow that accentuates the shapes, resulting in a scenic and captivating effect that draws the eyes and imagination of its admirers.
The project is part of a regional public call for the external artistic lighting of Sicilian castles, highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting cultural Heritage.
