Soon 240 surveillance cameras will be operational in the municipality of Olbia, strategically placed along major roads, squares, and parks with particular attention to the nine main access and exit routes of the city. This project, representing an investment of approximately 200,000 euros, has been promoted by City Green Light with the goal of modernizing and expanding the city’s video surveillance system, ensuring greater security and more effective territorial control.
These new cameras mark a significant technological advancement: they will be operational 24/7 and equipped with advanced systems for reading the license plates of passing vehicles, ensuring continuous and precise monitoring. In addition to routine surveillance, the project aims to provide strong support to law enforcement, particularly in the prevention and crackdown on illegal waste dumping and acts of vandalism. Thanks to these technologies, individuals involved in criminal activities can be quickly and accurately identified, thus improving the response and prevention capacity across the territory.
One of the most innovative aspects of the project is the creation of an operations center, recently approved by a municipal council resolution, which will serve as the main control hub for the system. From this center, operators will be able to constantly monitor the images captured by the cameras, both in real-time and recorded, optimizing the management of emergencies and critical situations. This infrastructure will play a key role in ensuring coordinated and timely interventions, enhancing the quality of life for citizens, and significantly contributing to the safety of the community.
The initiative is part of a broader project aimed at enhancing and safeguarding the territory, not only in terms of security but also in terms of environmental sustainability and the promotion of a more modern and efficient city.
